The glamorous Stacey Tisdale of CBS News has jumped upon the mini-iPhone bandwagon in their latest video bulletin, reporting that Apple has filed a patent for a “cut down” version of their cellphone supposedly on sale before the end of the year for under $300. There’s little indication of whether this is new news sourced by CBS or simply a rehashing of the various stories we and the rest of the blogosphere have reported, but with all eyes pointing to Cupertino the honeymoon period of the iPhone looks to be already waning.

Feeling rich? No, I mean it, are you feeling really bloody rich? Because if you’re desperate to hold a “piece of history” in your hands then feel free to join the bidding frenzy over on eBay where an iPhone that has gone through the hardware unlocking process by the very guy who documented it is, as of writing, up to $10,200 after 58 bids.

First the unlocking, then the conspiracy theories. Like guilt-riddled children peeking at their presents on Christmas Eve, anxious bloggers are wondering what electronic spanking Apple may have in mind for anyone who chooses to unlock their handset from AT&T. Cupertino’s predicted revenge has so far run the gamut from remote re-locking to death-by-stunted-features.

Like tears from a plump angel, more details about the next-gen iPod nano are gushing out; first up, you’ll have to get used to a new name (may I suggest iPod Tubbs?) since that’s apparently first on the list of alterations. Memory sizes should be 8GB and 16GB NAND, while the OS will be a complete change to mobile OS X as seen on the iPhone.

Remember that crazy website claiming that they could fully unlock the iPhone, but they just needed another 48 hours to do it? Apparently they’ve stepped up to the plate and shown just what they can do.

They contacted the guys over at Engadget promising that they could in fact completely unlock the phone. After just a few minutes of installing the software, they had indeed made good on their claim. The iPhone was then able to accept a T-Mobile SIM card and allowed them to make and receive phone calls and even connect to the internet vie EDGE.
