Kevin Hanson, one  of the buyers who got the shipment notification, wrote in his blog:

NICE! I should receive my 32GB white iPhone 3G S by this upcoming Friday. I’l actually be on vacation until Sunday, so I won’t get to open it until then.

Available in black and white options, the iPhone 3GS costs $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model.

Btw, have you also got the same notification recently?

AT&T promised that it’ll offer MMS on the iPhone after getting some system upgrades done, but according to Engadget, “seems that it works right now — if you’ve got a build of OS 3.0 that’ll let it.” The site’s tipster sent screenshoots that indicate both MMS and tethering are in full effect on the network.

Are you getting ready to grab the new iPhone next Friday? Might be you’ll love this news. Since AT&T wouldn’t offer insurance for any iPhone, seems Best Buy’s offering is worth purchasing. For some peace of mind, of course.

best-buy-3g-iphone

Normal cell phone insurance via Best Buy will cost you anywhere from $7 to $10 a month. Not the case with iPhone 3G S, Best Buy has raised this fee to a cool $15 a month. This premium fee is most likely due to the full retail price of the 3G S being so high at $599 and $699.

Good news is that this insurance will cover all sorts of damage – liquid damage, cracked screens, cracked casing, etc… All you have to do is bring your damaged iPhone into any Best Buy, they will fix it or replace your device on the spot.

Google have recently released updates for its beta version of web-based Gmail and iGoogle for the Apple’s iPhone. Available in 38 languages, just go to igoogle.com in your mobile browser and tap “Try the new Mobile iGoogle!”

igoogle2

Google wrote:

This new version is faster and easier to use. It supports tabs as well as more of your favorite gadgets, including those built by third-party developers. Note that not all gadgets — like those with Flash — will work in mobile browsers.

One of our favorite new features is the in-line display of articles for feed-based gadgets. That means you can read article summaries without leaving the page. You can also rearrange gadget order or keep your favorite gadgets open for your next visit. None of these changes will mess up the layout of gadgets on your desktop computer, so feel free to play around and tune your mobile experience.

MacDailyNews discovered that Apple has introduced something new on the iPhone 3GS’s screen specs: an oleophobic coating on the screen. Oleophobic, according to Merriam-Webster, means “having or relating to a lack of strong affinity for oils.”

iphone3g_screenAccording to Apple’s Cleaning iPhone page:

To clean iPhone, unplug all cables and turn off iPhone (press and hold the Sleep/ Wake button, then slide the onscreen slider). Then use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPhone. If your iPhone has an oleophobic coating on the screen (iPhone 3G S only), simply wipe your iPhone’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands and face.

We’re just days away from Apple’s 2009 WWDC, which is expected to announce the new iPhone, but commenting the rumors about what Phil Schiller might be bringing on stage was unavoidable. This time from Nowhere Else’s site, that already posted some interesting pictures.

iphone_third-gen_leaked_1-480x317SlashGear wrote:

The device pictured certainly seems to tick all of the obvious boxes tipped by pre-launch rumors. There’s the new chassis, new chrome-free finish and second slot – believed to be for a front-facing camera – on the top of the fascia.

However the headphone socket doesn’t appear to be on the bottom of the iPhone video, as shown in the last set of leaked photos, which suggests that somewhere along the line there are some fakes. According to Nowhere Else, a source at Orange France suggests that the new iPhone will come in 8, 16 and 32GB capacities and in both white and black finishes, will be 3mm smaller…

The UK’s leading independent mobile phone retailer, Carphone Warehouse, added four placeholders to their inventory list for new iPhone models today. It makes sense the official iPhone reseller like Carphone Warehouse had such information.

cw-090604-1

With new iPhone models expected this summer, in addition to the previously-announced 3.0 firmware, Carphone Warehouse appears to be gearing up for the change. A screenshot of its inventory system provided by a person known to have access to such information shows placeholders for both 16GB and 32GB iPhones in both white and black. They’re mixed in among the existing and previous iPhone models, having reportedly cropped up just hours ago.

So, which one do you like? A 32GB one in white or black? :-)

Apple patented a new system for inserting media into an ongoing phonecall, enabling iPhone owners to share music, video, image, voicemail or podcasts during conversation. So, by using the application, you don’t need to end your conversation and then email a multimedia file as an attachment.

apple_in-call_music_patent_1

Once shared, the media file could be controlled – ideal for those “listen to this bit, you’ll love it” moments – and the conversation could be continued while the media plays.  Alternatively Apple tips future video calling capabilities for the iPhone, with the system allowing for two concurrent video streams: one for the conversation, and one for shared video footage.

Another possibility is the introduction of an invitation system, whereby one user could invite another to join them in watching a video – such as a YouTube clip – or listen to a specific audio file.  Users who have had files shared with them would be able to control them from their own handset for as long as the share continues, skipping through their friend’s library.

Mobile ad network AdMob will launch new ad formats for the iPhone, optimizing social networking, search and rich media display advertising on the Apple’s device. Hitting the market July 1, the new capability will be available for both the iPhone’s Safari browser and within iPhone applications.

admob-0603c

AdMob is also combining search and display in a separate new format that will allow advertisers to add search boxes to banner ads so users can type queries directly within the units. The ads would enable people would be able to search a brand’s mobile site or other database, such as an automaker’s inventory of used car models at local dealerships.

The other two new ad formats expand options for rich media placements on the iPhone. One — a multi-panel unit — provides interactivity and animation with multiple calls to action in a single rich media unit. The other, a “scrolling canvas” unit, expands to a full mobile Web page when tapped without requiring users to click away from a site or iPhone application.
